Founded in 1973 by a bunch of friends with a double-decker bus and a passion for adventure, Topdeck (Top Deck Tours) has evolved to offer trips across the globe with four distinct trip styles aimed to satisfy the desires of today’s young travellers.

Focussed on delivering fun and enriching experiences to 18-39 year olds, Top Deck Tours selected the TravelComms Travel App to put this in the hands of their adventure-seeking customers.

Challenges

Topdeck needed a fully-customisable mobile solution that would provide their tech-savvy, mobile-forward young customers with instant access to their booking information and communications. The company turned to the TravelComms Travel App to centralise and simplify how guests receive information, connect with fellow travellers, book activities, and interact with the Topdeck team.

Solution

Adopting the TravelComms Travel App, Topdeck has been able to create a distinctive, on-brand look and feel that differentiates their in-app experience from their competitors. And by directly integrating with Topdeck’s Travel Studio reservation system, the app is automatically populated with each customer’s personal details and booking information without the painstaking task of manual data entry.

Once logged in, the customer is met with a wealth of features all designed to build excitement and help them maximise their trip, including a countdown timer, a currency conversion tool, and active forms to submit important information such as passport details, emergency contact details and their dietary requirements. In-app messaging capabilities also enable guests to communicate both with the Topdeck team and to connect and chat with fellow travellers.

Custom integrations with Hero and Qualtrics are helping to drive ancillary sales within destination. The integration with the Hero ancillary booking platform enables travellers to peruse, select and securely book activities mapped to the destinations of their itinerary. Whilst integration with the Qualtrics experience management platform is enabling Topdeck to capture post-trip feedback and help them understand their customers better.

All of this is underpinned by GDPR compliant data protection, along with privacy policies, subject access request, and account deletion functions.

The TravelComms Travel App has allowed Topdeck to present customers with important information from our bookings system via a user-friendly mobile application. Key original features, such as itinerary description, are tailored to match Topdeck’s distinctive look and feel for a consistent tone of voice and communication experience. Integrations with other platforms now allow Topdeck to promote and sell optional activities to customers before and during travel, as well as surfacing end of trip feedback surveys to improve customer experience. Topdeck has enjoyed minimal to no downtime and found d-flo’s responses to queries quick and reliable.
