d-flo Sponsors Global Ski
Mountaineering Project
d–flo, the innovative customer communications specialist, to sponsor an ambitious world’s first in global ski mountaineering and an exploratory documentary investigating the catastrophic deglaciation.
London, 1 March 2023: d–flo, which is known for providing dynamic customer communication solutions that enable their clients to deliver a richer customer experience and increase brand loyalty, is sponsoring The Last Ride Project.
The Last Ride Project is an ambitious world’s first in global ski mountaineering and an exploratory documentary investigating the catastrophic deglaciation and its effects on the broader climate. The team – comprising Edward Salisbury (an ex-GB freeskier), Will Tucker (an ex-ski racer) and Jon Moy (an award-winning adventure film maker and ex-competitive skier) – aim to become the first to climb and ski the tallest mountain on each of the seven continents – from Mt Kilimanjaro at the peak of Africa to Mt Vinson in the far–gone plains of Antarctica, and culminating in a nail–biting expedition on Mt Everest.
The Last Ride Project officially began two years ago when the team summited Mt Elbrus in Europe in September 2021. This was then followed up in June 2022 with the ascents of Mt Kilimanjaro in Africa and Mt Denali in Alaska. In an article published on their website after these expeditions, one of the team shared “On these trips, we met some truly inspirational people, from scientists to activists, skiers to farmers – all of whom have redirected our journey and contributed to our investigative story. We have discovered some alarming statistics but equally witnessed so much cause for hope.”
Colin Brimson, Co-Founder and CEO of d-flo Limited commented: “It’s a great pleasure to be supporting The Last Ride Project with their four remaining expeditions and awareness building of the rapid deglaciation taking place across the globe. As a sponsor, we will contribute financially towards this amazing project and use our networks to help increase greater awareness to it, and the bigger issue of climate change.
As a company, we have always had a passion for travel – with many of us having huge appreciation for the mountains and the exhilaration they can provide. But equally, we are fully aware of both the positive and negative impact travel can have on the planet. It’s from this that we put sustainability and environmental awareness at the heart of our business and the service we provide to our clients.
With our Tree[3] initiative, launched at the beginning of 2022, we committed to enabling our clients to deliver carbon neutral communications and to donate a percentage of all contract revenue to new tree-planting projects across the globe. We started 2023, both celebrating the impact of Tree[3]’s inaugural year – offsetting over 486 tonnes of carbon and funding the planting of 61,200 trees – and being certified as a Carbon Negative company, by Positive Planet, through our own internal sustainability activities.
Meeting a team of local adventurers and learning about The Last Ride Project was incredibly humbling. Whilst aiming to be the first to climb and freeski the tallest mountains in each of the seven continents – to increase awareness of rapid glacier melting – will almost certainly make them the last. And hearing how sustainability would be the focus on each expedition was awe-inspiring – from their sponsors to their equipment, from their logistics to their locally-recruited support teams, and from their commitment to descend with everything they take up each mountain (to lighten their personal footprint) to their personal carbon offsetting projects in each destination.
This project comes with huge risk but enormous opportunity for the story to be told – hopefully via a major streaming platform – and we are very proud to help support it. We look forward to seeing the story unfold and to see how far it reaches.”
